Privacy Policy

Effective: 18 July 2026 · Version 1.0

This Privacy Policy explains how getMygig ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information. We are committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), the Cyber Security Act 2024 (Cth), the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), the Do Not Call Register Act 2006, and disclosure obligations under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)).

In plain English: When you use features like resume analysis, resume writing, LinkedIn vs resume gap checks, hunt strategy, or employer radar, the text you enter is sent to AI and scraping providers (such as Firecrawl) to generate results. getMygig does not store that text on our servers. Anything saved is kept locally in your browser unless you explicitly choose to share it.

Data retention & processing

Local storage: Your profile, saved opportunities, careers-page watchlist, and cookie preferences are stored only in your browser's localStorage. We do not have access to this data and it never leaves your device unless you export or copy it yourself.

Request processing: When you use AI features (resume analysis, resume writer, hunt strategy, employer radar, reply predictor, negotiation coach) or live job search, the text you submit is sent to our AI and scraping providers to generate a response. We do not retain that text on our servers after the response is returned.

Analytics: If you opt in via the cookie banner, we load Cloudflare Web Analytics. It collects cookie-less, aggregate page views, referrers, and feature-usage events. No personal identifiers, IP addresses, or resume content are captured or retained by us.

Server-side persistence: getMygig does not operate a backend database for app data. We do not store your resume, profile, searches, or chat history on our servers. The only server-side data is routine hosting/analytics metadata handled by our platform providers.

1. Introduction

getMygig is a career intelligence application focused on the AU / NZ / Pacific contract market. We provide AI-assisted job discovery, hunt strategy, resume writing, employer research, negotiation coaching, and related tools. Your trust matters. This policy tells you exactly what we do with your information and the rights you have.

2. Scope & who we are

This policy applies to the getMygig web application and any related services. In this policy, "personal information" has the meaning given in section 6 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

getMygig currently operates as a pilot / invite-only service. Where the operator is an APP entity (including a small business operator that elects to be treated as an APP entity), we handle personal information in accordance with the APPs.

3. Information we collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Profile information you provide: name, contact details, LinkedIn URL, personal website URL, uploaded resume content, work history, education, skills, age (only if you enter it in the Resume Writer), citizenship / visa status, and role preferences.
  • Content you generate: job searches, saved opportunities, notes, pitches, negotiation inputs, and answers to in-app prompts.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information, referring URL, and pages viewed for security, analytics and reliability purposes.
  • Communications: messages you send us (e.g. via email or support forms).

Sensitive information: we do not knowingly seek sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act, such as health, racial or ethnic origin, or biometric data). Please do not include sensitive information in your resume or free-text fields unless strictly necessary.

4. How we use your information

  • To operate the app and deliver the features you request.
  • To generate AI-assisted output (hunt strategy, resume drafts, reply predictions, negotiation plans, employer discovery).
  • To improve reliability, security and user experience.
  • To respond to your enquiries and, where you have consented, to send you service updates.
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. AI processing & third-party models

Some features send inputs (such as your profile, job description, or query) to third-party AI providers (for example, large-language- model gateways) and scraping providers (such as Firecrawl) to generate output. These providers process the data on our behalf under their own terms. Do not submit information you do not want processed by an AI model or sent to a scraping provider.

Plain-English: the text you type is sent to AI and scraping services to generate results, but it is not stored on our servers. Anything saved is kept locally in your browser unless you explicitly choose to share it.

AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Nothing produced by the AI constitutes legal, financial, career or employment advice. Always verify independently before acting.

7. Where & how we store data

Much of your working data (your profile, saved opportunities, notes) is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) on the device you use. Data required for AI processing or live job search is transmitted in-transit to our processing providers and is not retained by us beyond what is necessary to return a response, unless you explicitly save it in-app.

You can clear locally stored data at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.

8. Disclosure to third parties

We disclose personal information only:

  • To service providers that host the app, run AI models, aggregate public job listings, or provide analytics — bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
  • Where you direct us to (e.g. when you click an outbound link).
  • Where required or authorised by law.
  • In the event of a business transfer, subject to equivalent privacy protections.

Outbound links (Seek, LinkedIn, Indeed, employer career pages, and similar) take you to third-party sites governed by their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.

9. Cookies & local storage

We use browser localStorage to keep your profile and preferences on your device. We may use cookies or similar technologies for essential functionality and basic analytics. You can disable cookies via your browser settings; some features may not work without them.

Analytics: If you consent, we load Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is cookie-less and does not fingerprint users. It collects page URLs, referrers, device/browser type, and country level location for aggregate reporting. We do not use it to identify or track individuals, and we do not combine it with your resume, profile, or search queries. You can withdraw consent at any time via Cookie settings; the beacon will be disabled immediately.

10. Your rights (access, correction, deletion)

Under APP 12 and APP 13, you may:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date information.
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to any legal obligation we have to retain it.
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing at any time.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 18. We will respond within a reasonable period (generally 30 days).

11. Security & Cyber Security Act 2024

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, and disclosure, consistent with APP 11 and the Cyber Security Act 2024 (Cth). Measures include:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Principle-of-least-privilege access to any server-side systems.
  • Vendor due diligence for AI and infrastructure providers.
  • Incident-response processes, including obligations under the Cyber Security Act 2024 in the event of a reportable cyber security incident (including any obligation to report a ransomware payment to the Department of Home Affairs where the Act applies to us).

No online service is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your device and credentials secure.

12. Electronic messages & Spam Act 2003

We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We only send commercial electronic messages (e.g. product updates, marketing) where we have your consent (express or reasonably inferred). Every such message will:

  • Clearly identify getMygig as the sender.
  • Include accurate sender contact details.
  • Include a functional unsubscribe facility that is honoured within 5 business days.

Transactional messages (e.g. confirming an action you took) may be sent without marketing consent, in line with the Act.

13. Disclosure & advertising transparency

Consistent with the Australian Consumer Law and the ACCC's guidance on misleading and deceptive conduct:

  • We clearly label AI-generated content and market data as informational only.
  • If we ever display sponsored placements, featured employers, affiliate links, or paid partnerships, they will be clearly disclosed as such at the point of display.
  • We do not fabricate testimonials or reviews. Any partner logos or endorsements are used with permission.
  • Salary, day-rate and market-outlook figures are estimates from public sources and are not guarantees.

14. Children

The app is not directed to children under 15. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

15. Overseas transfers

Our infrastructure and AI providers may process data outside Australia (for example, in the United States or European Union). Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure recipients handle it consistently with the APPs, as required by APP 8.

16. Notifiable data breaches

We comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme in Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If we suffer an eligible data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as practicable.

17. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top reflects the latest version. Material changes will be highlighted in-app or by email where appropriate.

18. Contact & complaints

Privacy questions, access / correction / deletion requests, and complaints:

  • Email: privacy@getmygig.app
  • Postal: getMygig Privacy Officer, Australia

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992. Spam complaints can be lodged with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) at acma.gov.au.
